The 2-Minute Intervention

Raymond Wlodkowski was known for teaching what he called the “2-Minute Intervention.” Teachers were asked to engage in a positive conversation with a student who was at risk once a day for two weeks. The teachers reported it did not require extra time or effort and produced remarkable results including behavioral and academic changes.

This week consider a “5-Minute Coaching Intervention.” As you interact in your regular routines, deliberately take the time to engage in a coaching conversation with a student for 5 minutes. Persist with the same strategy whenever a connection is made with the person. What results might you expect as a return on your 5-minute investment?
