As the school year draws to an end for many, our lists of tasks to accomplish seem to becoming unending. An important reminder is the principle of dynamical systems we describe in Adaptive Schools–both things and energy matter. As you navigate the challenges of the year’s end, remind yourself that the energy you create in your system propels the things. Here are some questions that may be helpful:
• How are you consciously paying attention to the grieving that your students may
be experiencing as they transition from one place to another?
• What are you thinking about in planning your lessons that both engages students and
helps them to see the importance of what they are learning?
• How are you providing rituals for staff and students that celebrate the year’s
accomplishments and help folks to move on to the next level/job?
• How are you caring for yourself each day in a way that allows you to be fully present?
