Curtis Cunningham
Curtis Cunningham, Ph.D., is an educator, learning designer, leadership coach, and professional learning facilitator with more than 25 years of experience serving educators and educational leaders across K–12 and higher education. He currently serves as a Learning Design Trainer with the Office of Innovation for Education where he supports school and district leaders and teachers through professional learning, coaching, strategic planning, continuous improvement, and the implementation of high-quality instructional materials. His work also includes collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education on statewide initiatives focused on educator development, instructional coaching, mentoring, assessment, and systems-level improvement.
His career began in the elementary classroom where he taught in private and public schools in Southwest Missouri. Curtis serve as an instructional coach working with novice teachers for six years and a university professor for nine years before beginning his work with the Arkansas Department of Education. Curtis has used Cognitive Coaching extensively with students, teachers, instructional coaches, school leaders, and educational organizations throughout Arkansas and Southwest Missouri
Curtis holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Arkansas, with an emphasis in gifted education. He loves to share the work of Cognitive Coaching and supporting individuals and systems in supporting the self-directed behaviors of all members of the learning community.
